Four Bay Area organizations working with African communities impacted
by the conflicts and wars on the Continent will be hosting this
networking event. The goal of this networking event is to allow for
the different groups to meet and share their work collectively with
organizations members, community members and others, and discuss
further opportunities for a collective approach to access to
information, resources and community building. Additionally, our goal
is to increase awareness and build alliances amongst people sharing a
common struggle. You are invited to come
along and bring friends and colleagues and meet key members from the
various groups listed below as well as members from various Bay Area
communities.

Background Information will be provided about refugees camps and
displaced communities from the conflicts of Mano River Basin countries
namely Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone as well as the current
conflicts in Cote D'Ivoire,
Sudan and Congo DR.

African Refugee Community Services
Moussa Kamara, Founder and ED
The African refugee Community Services is based in the South bay and
works to provide assistance to African refugees in the Bay Area. The
organization also focuses on Advocacy, Education and Social
Activities. The ARCS has assisted refugees from various conflict
zones- included but not limited
to:
Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan.

The Foundation Elimu
Pacy Mudeerwha, Executive Director
The Foundation Elimu is based in the East Bay and works toward
providing assistance and access to resources to children and orphans
of the Congo DR, from the conflict regions of the Kivu primarily. The
organization's goal is
to promote access to education for the displaced children and orphans.

Liberian Community Association of Northern California
Rufus Berry II, President
The LCANC is a community organization focused on the welfare of
Liberians living in the San Francisco Bay Area. TheY provide access to
community information and organizes community events to strengthen
social ties amongst Liberians and access to community news and
resources.

WAFRICA-Women of Africa
Mariam Tendou Kamara Co-Founder
WAFRICA is focused on increasing the welfare of African Women and
their families in the Bay Area while building bridges to Africa via
partnerships with local NGO's. The organization promotes advocacy and
community building through the strengthening of social and cultural
ties.
